Smart Carpet Reviews and Complaints All Reviews

This is my first time taking the time to write a review because I was so disgusted. Do not waste your time. They arrived on time and the salesman (Frank Z.)seemed in a rush. He didn't listen carefully to what I was asking for, to match our existing carpet. Although I had the exact name, carpet color, number, etc., he said it may not be available without even checking and then tried to sell me inferior carpet that didn't even match the same color, not to mention the poor quality. He measured the rooms, made a number of phone calls waiting to see if the carpet was available and then asked to see the other quotes that I obtained. After refusing to do so, he asked what I was willing to spend on carpet for the rooms? He badmouthed almost every name I mentioned and then scribbled some numbers on a scrap piece of paper and asked me if the number was fine? I asked him to write up a quote, include the color number and after reviewing with my wife this evening, I would likely call tomorrow to place the order as they were about $100 less than the next lowest number. He refused to write a quote and said he had to come back again, I asked for a business card and he refused to give me one. He asked what type of backing my carpet had, despite having all the information already given to him, then grabbed a floor mat that I had made of the same carpet previously installed by another company, turned it over and ran his fingers through it over my kitchen table, getting dirt and dust all over the furniture. I asked for a quote and he then became defensive saying that unless I was serious, he was not writing a quote. I told him until you give me a quote in writing without the possibility of "extras" (that often occur with these people once they are on site) and I review with my wife, I cannot make a decision. After refusing to give me a business card, I asked him to leave and he ran out of my house almost as if he had just stolen something from my home. I called the main office and complained and got a bit of a run around. In the end, it simply wasted everyone's time but as for the salesman's actions, I can't explain them...it was almost criminal how he acted and I have to wonder just how badly they must take advantage of those who are not as wise to their games such as the elderly. Clearly, they operate on commission. Beware, they are not to be trusted and I will never recommend them to anyone. They obviously do not have control of their sales team and based upon their actions, they'll sell you anything to make a buck. I am writing the State of NJ and Better Business Bureau because there needs to be a consequence when you treat people as rudely and unprofessionally as they do. They are anything but smart. BEWARE!
